Central Laboratory in The college of Pharmacy :
The central laboratory consists of four units: the nuclear magnetic resonance unit, the chromatography unit, the spectroscopy unit, and the biological evaluation unit.
Laboratory work:
The central laboratory provides all chemical and biological analysis services for various chemical compounds, both organic and inorganic. The analysis of organic compounds includes the analysis of medicines, toxins, food additives, environmental pollutants, and other organic compounds, while the analysis of inorganic compounds includes the analysis of heavy metals, the ionic ratios of ions, and the analysis of water.
In the field of analyzing organic compounds, the laboratory can do this using specialized devices such as liquid chromatography connected to a mass spectrometer, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), thermal analysis, ultraviolet radiation, infrared radiation, and elemental analysis. It is also possible to separate the components of samples from organic materials using chromatographic devices. Gaseous and liquid.
In the field of analyzing inorganic compounds, the laboratory does this using devices such as atomic absorption and an X-ray device with fluorescein emission (fluorescence).
The biological effects of various chemical compounds are examined using several laboratory equipment, including a quantitative polymerase chain reaction device, a centrifuge, and others.

Determination of NMR spectra of 1H, 13C, and 15N atoms. The 2D experiment can correlate the spectra of the different atoms. The results obtained from such analyses are essential for structure elucidation of any synthetic or natural organic compounds. The instrument is characterized by the ability of analyzing very small quantities of the samples as it contains micro probe that permit the use of micro tubes for the analysis. This advantage also tremendously reduces the amount of NMR solvents used.
